Web Services

Geolocation to suit everyone

Overview

Geolocation is becoming a key element of many business applications. For this reason, ViaMichelin has developed a flexible, open solution available across a number of platforms (web, mobile, GPS, business software) and enabling the tailored integration of the following features:

  • Geocoding (or reverse geocoding) and address verification
  • Map generation
  • Proximity search
  • Route and distance calculation

An open and flexible platform

  • 100% compatible with Internet standards (http, XML, SOAP, WSDL)
  • Integrable with your business management applications
  • Optimised for the development of mobile applications: map format and size, shortened queries and intelligent search methods

Extended and powerful functionality

  • Multimodal itineraries: ViaMichelin Web Services also offers pedestrian (max. 30 kms) and cycling (max. 200 kms) route options
  • High-performance proximity search: distance calculation by road or 'as the crow flies'. 'ViaMichelin reverse mode' - identifying the shortest road route to a specified point - an essential feature for emergency services and call centres

Enriched mapping content

  • Standard: speed camera locations, car parks, road works and road closures
  • Optional: map display featuring local services (schools, nurseries, post offices, food outlets) as well as Michelin Green guide and Michelin Red guide content

Personalised support through each stage

  • Test period: testing of services and supporting online technical documentation (linked to the developer site)
  • Integration period: ongoing assistance from the ViaMichelin support team.
  • Post-production: regular map content updates (expanding geographical coverage, integration of changes to the road network, etc) on the applications
